Akira Poster Project

As part of our 2D graphic design classes, we were given the task to revisit a pre-existing poster of our choice, using Akira’s famous composition. The first challenge was choosing a movie which contained the two notorious elements of Akira’s layout, a main character and his vehicle.
I therefore choose the movie Senna, a documentary on the legendary Formula One driver, Ayrton Senna; as the character could easily be recognised by his famous yellow helmet, and his McLaren prototype. Also, the fact that both my chosen character along with Akira’s wore red racing suits, emphasised the graphic reference. Thus, the poster was easily recognisable, while respecting Akira’s style.
